I produced this picture in 1988 as an idea for the dust jacket of "The Cat Pounces", a book on Le Mans by William Kimberley. The drawing was not completed because I never saw my artwork again once I'd handed it over for approval. I guessed they liked it because it appeared in full splendour on the front of the new publication. I will say at this point that the authors Michael Cotton and Ian Briggs would not have known that the artwork was actually stolen. The design on the front of "The Cat Pounces - Jaguar's Triumph at Le Mans 1988" is not actually the same as the picture you see here. The unfinished drawing didn't show all the livery on the car, so Kimberleys replaced my sketch with a photograph of the winning Jaguar. They also omited the "sunset" idea which was something I'd just thrown in for a laugh! It got to the advert though!! I wouldn't have minded the compliment of Kimberleys actually using MY design for their book! That was great! The problem was that I never got a mention, no credit and certainly no money for my efforts! A definite case of the smaller person being exploited by the more powerful, but not necessarily better, bigger person, don't you think? Anyway this book is on sale for £14.95 at all good bookstores....go and have a look...that's MY ARTWORK! But do me a favour and don't help this moron any further than he's already helped himself!!
